CinemARC The Wild Robot
A screening of the Oscar nominated animation The Wild Robot and the chance to interact with robots in real life!
Advanced Research Centre, University of Glasgow, 11 Chapel Lane Glasgow G11 6EW
The ARC is excited to present a free, family friendly screening of The Wild Robot as part of their Spring Fling programme. Nominated for an Oscar for best animated feature, The Wild Robot follows the journey of a robot — ROZZUM unit 7134, ‘Roz’ for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
Before the film, hear from researchers working in robotics. They will be showing off the capabilities of the ARC’s robot dog, explaining some of the research it’s involved in, answering questions, and giving a short talk about robots and the experience of working with them.
