This year marks 20 years since Section 28, the law that banned “promotion of homosexuality” in the UK, was repealed. To mark that anniversary, Glasgow Film Theatre will promote some films that celebrate and explore LGBT+ stories!

Daniel, based on true events, this intense, emotional drama speaks of a country where homophobia and intolerance are on the rise and it takes a brave soul to oppose it. Something You Said Last Night is a funny and unique portrayal of the trans experience portrayed through twenty-something writer Renata as she embarks on a family holiday.

Punch, Audience Award nominee, a coming of age drama about 17-year-old Jim, who is training for his first professional fight when he befriends gay Maori teen, Whetu, who’s being bullied by the community. New Austrian drama, Eismayer – a battle of wills between an old school sergeant-major and a fearless new recruit blossoms into something deeper. Or Lee Grant’s 1984 documentary, What Sex Am I?, following a group of trans people, marked by the ignorance of the time.
