Glasgow FrightFest – part of Glasgow Film Festival, 2024

Mom dares to use the taboo subject of post partum depression combined with what may or may not be supernatural external forces. This is an unsettling, dark film which sees Meredith, a new mother with a seemingly doting husband and a beautiful lavish home, slowly suffer from unravelling mental health after the birth of her first child. We watch her desperate cries for help turn to violence and despair under the watchful eye of a judgemental and unsympathetic husband and therapist. As Meredith dives deeper into guilt and despair, sinister entities make their appearance which ultimately lead to tragic consequences. This film won’t make you jump, it won’t give you gore, but it is in every sense of the word – the definition of horror.
