To celebrate 100 years since the birth of Orson Welles, GFT are screening his 1958 film noir.
Part of: The shadowy world of Film Noir: 7 tales of dirty dealings
Often cited as the last great film noir of the classic period, starring Charlton Heston as Miguel Vargas, a drug enforcement official working in Mexico. An explosion on the US border forces Vargas into a tangled web of murder and police corruption. GFT is delighted to be screening this new restoration of the film from the 1998 re-edit, which sought to bring the film back to Welles’ original vision after studio cuts altered it. A deliciously dark masterpiece which has influenced decades of filmmakers.
