Joshua Burnside – Nice N Sleazy

Saturday, May 2

8 p.m.

Glasgow-based experimental/folk artist Joshua Burnside and his long-time musical cohorts invite you to a night of musical exploration. Stumbling beats, vocoder, found sounds, african rhythms, frantic electric guitar picking, lightning and dark matter are just a handful of the various flavours to expect.

‘Prodigious, eclectic, original, unpredictable, well-produced… Stop me when the kettle’s boiled’ – CultureNI

‘Understated and exaggerated, foreign yet somehow familiar, Joshua Burnside’s ‘If You’re Going That Way’ is both thought-provoking and reflective.’ – Golden Plec

With Special Guests

Megan D – the delicate fingerpicking and whispering vocal talents of Edinburgh’s sweetheart Megan D are a balm for the soul, lulling you into a reverie with sharp and honest lyrics that pack an emotional punch to the gut.

Stephen Elliott – of Feet For Wings is a writer of serene, poignant, understated music – ”I had the feeling of a still moment in the middle of a hurricane – of a whole world swirling round these intelligent guys, and their reaction being very… quiet. That, and the fairground was in town.”

and

Joe Djaelani – Joe is a part of a long line of Glasgow folk song-writing, from Hamish Imlach who taught John Martyn, who in turn has influenced this young and incredibly talented songsmith.
